Recently, the Assembly Judiciary Committee heard testimony on increasing the judicial retirement age. After considering various proposals, we sent legislation to the full Assembly that increases the mandatory retirement age for judges and prosecutors from 70 to 75, excluding the Supreme Court. This legislation will help improve the quality of our judiciary here in New Jersey, and help to modernize a standard set based on life expectancy back in 1947. Below, you can check out a video I recorded to help explain why this is a good proposal for New Jersey.
